I obtained
my
Higher in Art and Design. Shortly after I received my first
commission; to design and paint a large scale frieze in the main
school hall.
In 1990, I began experimenting
with papier mache developing my own methods of creating papier-mache figures, from fishing wire skeletons
I built and
designed myself. The all important body shape was then built up
in papier-mache around this. Concurrent studies in Fashion and
Design which led to an award with distinction, also proved
invaluable in designing and making clothes for the figures.
In 1996, my interest in art
began to broaden, fuelled by art books and visits to galleries.
Influenced mainly by Landscapes and Impressionism, I began
to paint my own works in acrylic and oil on canvas boards I
built myself. This was initially a quiet hobby, until friends
saw more of my work, resulting in the opportunity to create
bespoke murals around their idea.
In 2004, my hobby took a
prosperous turn with my first paid commission. Later that year
in December 2004, I exhibited 5 paintings alongside other
artists as part of an exhibition to showcase Glasgow Caledonian
University talent. At this event the University purchased one of
my paintings.
Since then I have completed
further paid commissions. My unique style is instantly
recognisable and the bespoke textured oil and acrylic paintings
on canvas are produced to order based on the customer(s)
environment, colour surroundings and space available, thus
always producing an original design, to order. |
